About
the Designer
Rebecca Gruber was born in the
United States, raised on an Israeli kibbutz, and now resides in Toronto,
Canada. She is an accomplished dancer and physical therapist.
As a designer, diversity of cultures and customs informs her artistic sensibility.
Her creative perspective is based on a passion for and unique understanding
of light, color, form, and movement.
Rebecca designs and handcrafts all her jewelry pieces, using the finest in
precious metals, semi-precious stones, and antique and vintage materials from
the world over. Her designs are all limited editions; most are one of a kind.
In her own words: "Growing up in Israel, where light is a primary force;
color has become an essential component of my life experience. I have had the
benefit of exposure to many various cultures and ethnicities at an early age,
developing a love of traditions and ritual symbolism. The creative interplay
of form and movement has defined my work as a dancer and therapist. I bring
all this to each of my unique designs.
Most recently, Rebecca has added a line of handknit and felted accessories,
including embellished artisan wool clutches lined with raw silk and other luxurious
fabics.
Rebecca characterizes her designs as whimsical,
sophisticated, exotic, eclectic, and feminine in
short: unique!
